IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT MEETINGS WILL CONTINUE TO BE HELD AT THE MEMPHIS CHAMPIONSHIP BARBEQUE ON S. RAINBOW The Memphis Championship Barbeque, located at 1401 S. Rainbow, is closing to the public, HOWEVER, they will remain open for their catering business and to serve our needs each month for our Monthly Crew Meeting (MCM). The menu will be more limited, so watch the Yahoo Group for announcements on the entrees available. At some point this may change, but for the foreseeable future, we will continue to meet in their private dining room each month. If and when this changes, we
will update the website and the Yahoo Group. If you aren't subscribed to
the Yahoo group, please do so asap. STAR TREK ONLINE GOING FREE TO PLAY AND WE'RE RECRUITING LOCALLY Cryptic has announced that Star Trek Online will be going live on January 17, 2012 with their new Free to Play business model. What this means is that anyone will be able to sign up and play the game at no monthly cost. So this sounds like a great time to promote the USS Las Vegas STO Sunday Game Play. As an ongoing event, we have scheduled Sundays from 2 PM until 5 PM (Pacific Time) for local players to get together in-game and run missions, work on leveling our characters, running STF's and having a great time. It's been pretty slow the last few months, but hopefully this will pick up after the F2P model goes live. We use Ventrilo, a voice chat program to communicate while we are playing. It just takes a microphone and the free software, Ventrilo. We also have a Ventrilo server available to all the members at no cost. To download the program and get set up, just click here. (For existing players, the Ventrilo server has changed, so please also check this page and change your settings to use the new server.) Look for me using the handle @mcornwell. CREW OF THE USS LAS VEGAS The officers and crew of the USS Las Vegas, along with special guests, were allowed access to the Enterprise 1701-D Bridge set located at Star Trek: The Experience prior to the closure of STTE. A crew photo was taken and then additional photos were taken by crew members. links page. Click here to check it out. CREATION'S LAS VEGAS STAR TREK CONVENTION HUGE SUCCESS! The USS Las Vegas signed up 23 new members during the convention and gave out information to many more about our ship and organization. The officers and crew look forward to meeting the new crew members and our new friends at future meetings and activities. If you are a new crew member, be sure to check the link above for orientation instructions. The USS Las Vegas is always looking for new members. We are looking for any and all Star Trek fans to join us as we continue to celebrate the world of Star Trek. Monthly meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 PM. Membership in the USS Las Vegas is currently free, although this could change in the near future. Upcoming events include local civic activities, charitable activities, away missions with other Star Trek clubs, i.e. Disneyland (Mouse Trek), Universal Studios-Hollywood (Jurassic Trek), and other local area amusements.
