ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION AND CEREMONIES IN JANUARY, 2014!

On January 16, 2014, the officers and crew of the USS Las Vegas celebrated their 8th anniversary of service to the Las Vegas area. This also provided an opportunity to celebrate Captain Walker's birthday as well.

The crew and guests also took a few minutes to pay tribute to our friend, Tom Deishley, who recently passed away. He played the Klingon General who was always threatening to throw our captain out the nearest airlock. (Although he never quite made it.)

Larry Nemecek, famed Star Trek expert, also paid a visit to the club and took part in a special ceremony later in the evening. Larry provided details on upcoming Star Trek projects and answered questions as only he can.

As the final event of the evening, Captain Walker was promoted to the rank of Admiral. And due to his new rank, command of the USS Las Vegas was transferred to a new captain, Captain Mike Cornwell. Captain Cornwell thanked Admiral Walker for his years of service to the ship. The Admiral expressed his appreciation and that he would be back aboard for visits.

And after the transfer of command ceremony was over, a band of Klingon warriors, masquerading as guests, arrested Admiral Walker for unspecified charges, placed him in chains and took him captive. More information will be forthcoming on his defense and sentence.

The officers and crew of the USS Las Vegas, along with special guests, were allowed access to the Enterprise 1701-D Bridge set located at Star Trek: The Experience prior to the closure of STTE. A crew photo was taken and then additional photos were taken by crew members. Our thanks for Diana (our photographer and guide) and a special thanks to Chad Boutte, Operations and Marketing Manager for STTE. For more photos, click here.
