USS Las Vegas

New Crew Member Orientation

Welcome to the USS Las Vegas! You have signed aboard a very exciting and active Star Trek fan club. As we welcome you aboard, there are a few items you should be aware of and things you should do as  a new crew member.

If you ever have a question about the ship or what is expected, feel free to contact the XO, Mike Cornwell at any time. You can reach Cmdr. Cornwell via e-mail at xo@usslasvegas.org or using standard subspace communications at frequency 702.530.TREK.

The USS Las Vegas holds an MCM (Monthly Crew Meeting) each month on the third Wednesday of the month. We are very consistent with this meeting time, but if it changes, it will be announced on the main page of the website. We begin our meetings at 6:30 PM and they usually last about two hours. The meetings are normally held at the Memphis Championship Barbeque located at 1401 S. Rainbow Blvd., near Charleston Ave. If there are any changes, they will be noted in the marquee on the main page.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The restaurant will only provide us with a single check. Therefore we ask that everyone bring enough CASH to cover their meal expense. We tally each person's bill and then collect for it. Any excess funds are deposited into our Latinum Fund for general ship business.

To begin your orientation, you should do the following as soon as possible:

1. Join the Yahoo Group, USS_Las-Vegas. To access the group page, click here. You can request to join and either the Captain or the XO will approve your membership in the group. After that, you will begin to receive messages from the group. The Yahoo group is used for ship wide communications, so it is advisable to check your e-mail often.

2. Order a uniform. You can contact our Chief Operations Officer, Steve George to order a t-shirt or a polo shirt with our ship's logo. We typically wear these for Away Missions, charity events and other activities to show our affiliation to the ship and to Star Trek.

3. Read over the USS Las Vegas Operations Manual. Inside this manual, you will important information about how the ship functions and what is expected of the officers and crew. The Promotion Point System is also detailed in this manual. You can access the manual by clicking here. If you have any questions, please contact the Captain or XO for those answers.

Again, welcome aboard the USS Las Vegas, we are certain you will find this a fascinating experience. You will have opportunities to serve our ship, the local community and the nation. In fact, you will be helping "to make the universe a better place for all life forms."
