Meeting called to order by Captain Walker at 6:30pm
Captain Walker welcomed everyone to the meeting and made note that this
was the largest meeting in the history of the ship.
Departmental Reports
Science Report - Science Officer Barbara Givens gave a report
on the Griffith Observatory and the Leonard Nimoy Theater. Gave history of
building named for Griffith J. Griffith located in the park he donated to
the city of Los Angeles. One highlight is a wall depicting the Milky way
galaxy created out of thousands of pieces of costume jewelry.
Latinum Fund Report - XO Mike Cornwell reported that the Latinum
Fund currently held $120 with no outstanding disbursements to be made.
All other departments reported all systems functioning within normal
parameters.
Old Business:

Captain Walker gave a
Post-convention report and an informal vote was taken to determine
involvement next year. The results were overwhelmingly positive.

Captain Walker also gave a report
on the MDA Telethon Away Mission. The volunteers for the telethon were,
Paul Walker, Robert Niwa, Sandy Leach, Brad Treloar, Wendy Fillmore and
Richard Graves. The local area raised over a million dollars and over 63
million was raised nationally.

XO Cornwell talked about the
newsletter naming contest. The newsletter will be an online publication
and won't be printed or mailed. A contest was announced to pick a name.
The crew was encouraged to submit suggestions and that Captain, XO and
Chief Records Officer will pick from the submitted list The first name
submitted was, "The Delta Flyer."

XO Cornwell also made offers to
the crew to e-mail the pictures from the VIP Dinner to whomever requests
them.

Newspaper Article- Captain Walker
showed article prepared by Amanda Llewellyn Focus of article was on
Captain Walker and Comm. officer Robert Niwa.

Jesse Capparella of our sister
ship "May Bough"o ffered us self defense training, 12 people expressed
interest in attending. Place and time are to be determined.

SAM IDEAS- Discussed by Chief
Morale Officer Joshua Andrews, Welcome back Josh!

OCT 10th Refuse Collection set up
for 10:00am and 11:00am. Other suggestions include Chocolate Factory
Cactus Garden, Halloween Party, Movie Nights, Lake Mead dinner cruises.

Star Trek Update- Captain Walker
gave new movie update, New Uhura cast shooting to begin in November for a
release of 12/25/2008 Christmas Day.

Star Trek Funerals- New company
offering "Photon Torpedo" and Urns for your journey into the Final
frontier.
Awards and Presentations
A certificate of appreciation was
presented to Pat Arthur for her help with the Robert Picardo Project.
David Phares was promoted to the rank of Lt. Cmdr. for his service to the
ship during the Robert Picardo Project
Chuck Riley was presented with a Certificate of Membership to the USS Las
Vegas
Beth Riley was presented with a Certificate of Membership to the USS Las
Vegas
Promotions were given to Silas Naig, Barbara Givens, Frank Brown and
Michael Blanchard
Sean Fillmore was presented a certificate to welcome him as a cadet member
of the crew and was assigned to the Security Department.
