Old Business:

  1. As always our meeting began at 18:30 hours with a welcoming statement from Capt Paul Walker. Capt. Walker warmly greeted a new crew member and our three guests. New crew member Robert Niwa, was welcomed to the Las Vegas. We also had three guests, Mr. Kelley Fuller a free lance writer from Australia, Mr. Richard Schecter and Mrs. Madaleine Schecter of Las Vegas. Kelley was in town to cover the recent 40th Anniversary Convention and Richie and Madie were also vendors at the convention and discovered the USS Las Vegas there. Capt. Walker reported that the IFT saw 4 new chapters come from the convention, and that all involved judged it to be a success.

  2. After discussion, a motion to take a table in the TNG 20th Anniversary Convention here in Las Vegas next year was approved. We will once again be in attendance. A committee was formed to explore the possibility of providing general merchandise for sale at that convention. Initial interest was high in exploring this avenue of fund raising. It was noted that Creation which puts on the convention will provide authentic Trek merchandise for resale. This option will also be considered.

  3. XO Cornwell brought us up to date on our community service away mission, Adopt-a-Highway, and it is ready to go. A decision to meet and do our fall pickup was made. The project will kick off at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, October 18, 2006. Please watch our web site for exact information on where to meet.

  4. Capt. Walker asked Kelley Fuller to update the crew on the status of the articles he has written on the convention and on the local Starships, the USS Las Vegas and USS Battleborn. Kelley tells us that he currently provides articles for the Star Trek Magazine in the United Kingdom, and for two, more local publications, Aurealis, a Sci-Fi Magazine and Film, Inc. both of Sydney, Australia. He has submitted some information via email and promised us copies of anything that was published.

New Business:

  1. A social away mission to go bowling is planned XO Cornwell is to check on availability and post on the web site for response.

  2. Chief Security Officer Naig, discussed the possibility of self defense classes and several crew members expressed an interest. The classes were offered by Capt. Jessie Caparrella of the Battleborn. CSO Naig will contact and make preliminary arrangements.

  3. XO Cornwell provided a handout outlining a points system for promotions. The system provides a number of ways to earn points toward promotion. The system as been put in place and is retro active back to the enlistment date of each crew member.
